When I want a bag that's SUPER lightweight, waterproof and stuff-able, I reach for my Longchamp Le Pliage tote. It's great for traveling or for toting your gym gear. It's especially great for rainy days when you don't want to use your leather bags. Magnums.net currently is offering 20% off its best selling Longchamp bags (code: MARCH). Sale ends on 3/3/10 (wed). My pick is the large Le Pliage tote in bilberry, black or navy. Those colors are basically dirt/stain-proof!

Lauren Merkin - 40% off for 2/28
LaurenMerkin.com is offering 40% off sitewide (code: MELTDOWN). I have a weakness for clutches. They're not the most practical but I love the look of clutches and the idea of a clutch-friendly lifestyle. ;) So my pick for this sale is an item that's already on sale: Tatum clutch in black patent. The current sale price is $175; take 40% off and it's $105! My other pick is the brilliant and necessary Reusable Shopper in signature floral printed cotton. It's a handy dandy lightweight tote that you can use for your groceries or gym gear. With the 40% off discount, it's only $9!! Yes...you read right: $9!!

Barneys' Warehouse Sale - My Loot (for now...)
I went to the Barneys's Warehouse Sale this past wednesday. I never go with expectations because it really is a crap shoot. Sometimes you come out with something fantastic (one year I purchased a pair of Prada boots for $100) and sometimes you come out with absolutely nothing. I have to go by myself these days because my BF refuses to go with me. He gets freaked out by the women who undress (down to their undies) in the back of the store to try on clothing. Look ladies: if you want to try on clothing at a sale and you know there aren't going to be any dressing rooms, wear tights and a leotard (or a tight tank top). A sale does NOT excuse you for acting like a stripper, okay? Okay.
So this year, I found some fantastic items! I purchased a pair of J Brand Boutique straight leg jeans and a Loomstate tunic top for a total of about $56!! Everything was an additional 40% off the lowest price on the tag. Tomorrow is the last day and I'm sure they will be upping that percentage off to 60%-70%. It will be madness but I may just go...

Cheapie Contemporary Furniture Stores: Desks
Let's talk about desks from cheapie contemporary furniture stores (West Elm, CB2, Ikea, etc) or CCFS. Desks from CCFS are stylish and affordable. But many times, you get what you pay for. The finishes and quality of desks from CCFS are iffy. Nick or scratch the veneer of a desk and that's all you'll be seeing until you get a new one. And they are ALL easily nick-able and scratch-able. But you want a chic desk and you can't afford (or don't want) to pay for one from a higher-end furniture store? Don't sweat it. I found a great solution. I really liked the Jay Desk from West Elm but was hesitant to buy it because I was pretty sure the veneer/varnish scratched/nicked like crazy (especially in the color that I wanted: white). I was right. I had to exchange the desk 3 TIMES before they delivered an acceptable one. Twice the desk came dented on a corner and contained scratches and once the desk came with random large nicks. I had a thin custom glass top (aka glass blotter) made for my desk to protect the desk's surface. It was inexpensive (approximately $30) and definitely worth it. Even after over a year's worth of use and abuse, my desk looks new. I'll be keeping this desk for quite some time! I recommend using a local glass shop so you can save on shipping costs (which can be high). That's what I did. Just google for one.

Dress Me
During spring/summer, I try to wear dresses as often as I can because...1) it's a whole outfit in one article of clothing (I'm not a morning person, so the less I have to think, the better!), 2) it makes me feel pretty, oh so pretty (and sometimes sexy), and 3) there's less laundry for me to do (this is the MOST important reason). So here are my sale picks from RevolveClothing.co's latest markdowns:
- Pleated Dress ($329) in creme by Camilla and Marc. It reminds me of Liesel's dress in The Sound of Music when she met Rolfe in the glass gazebo and sang "Sixteen Going on Seventeen".
- Tie Front Dress ($187) in silver by Geren Ford. This is most definitely a date-night dress for the summer!
- Chiffon Strapless Dress ($178) in kohl by Jill Stuart. Hello...tea with the girls? Wait...who am I kidding? Is it gelato or Pinkberry with the girls? Or maybe Serendipity 3?
- Heart Sleeve Dress ($82) in black by LA Made. With the right accessories, this is perfect for a night of drinking and dancing. It's comfy (yes - I'm big on comfort) and sexy (yes - I want him to look twice, at least).
Botkier - Work It with the Logan Satchel
Soft and smooshy is a great thing but not always the most professional in appearance, so I would choose Botkier's Logan Satchel as a work bag. It's large enough to fit your work-week stuff into but still cool enough that you're not embarrassed to take it with you for after-work drinks/dinner! Bloomingdale's had just reduced the Logan Satchel by 30% to $416.50. Black and brown are available. I'm personally looking for the olive/moss version; so if you see it on sale, let me know!!
Rebecca Minkoff - Nikki Hobo
Rebecca Minkoff's Nikki Hobo is a great weekend bag. It's soft and smooshy (and as you know, I LOVE soft and smooshy!), and at 40% off at AsterAlice.com (code: RM40), it's a steal! RM codes are hard to come by, so take advantage of this promotion while it lasts. Other RM bags are on-sale (but "new arrivals" and "pre-sales" are excluded). My pick is the dark grey Nikki. Admittedly, I'm not the most gentle person with my bags and this color can take a beating without showing it!

Linea Pelle - Dylan Medium Tote
I love big soft and smooshy leather bags...the kind that get softer and smooshier as I use them. LP's Dylan Medium Tote is a perfect example! LunaBoston.com is currently offering 30% off (code: COVET30) on its handbags (with certain exclusions). I'm thinking about getting LP's Dylan Medium Tote in black (a color that is always a great choice) or in cobalt (a color that will be great for spring/summer). With the discount, it would be $290.50 (with free shipping)!
